I am proud to announce that I have been selected as a member of Atlanta’s ONE Group by the JDRF Georgia Chapter. Honorees were selected based on their professional and philanthropic accomplishments, as well as their commitment to making a difference in the communities in which they live and work. I am hopeful that you can join me and the honorees at The ONE Party on November 7, 2013 at The Estate.
As an honoree, I have made a personal pledge to raise at least $10,000 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. I would like to invite you to join me in support of this very worthy cause that I have been called to help.
In the past year I've been inspired by a host of remarkable people who've been battling T1D. These include Phil Southerland, a professional cyclist who has been afflicted since the age of 7 months and who was told he would not live past 25. Now 30, Phil is changing the world and helping others to live a full and meaningful life. Andy and Donna Cash, whose two young sons Gavin and Liam both have T1D. As Andy reminds me- "Managing a child with Type 1 Diabetes is every minute of every day and doesn't go away". I'm grateful and humbled that my two children are healthy and are not afflicted. At the same time this could easily be your child or mine and I'm compelled to act. There's Quincy Jones- now in his 30's and a T1D who has seen the affliction turn more aggressive in the past few years. Unlike me, he simply can't eat what he wants when he wants it. He must focus on insulin, eating right, exercise, and the faith that he can overcome the challenge. There's Jim Bethea whose 11 year old son was just diagnosed. Look around- I'm sure your friends are not very different than mine. So please help me by taking action to support JDRF financially. Together WE CAN make a significant impact on finding a cure. It takes a village and I'm confident that you are the right villager to speak with your wallet and join my team. Angie, our children, and I (Kyle and Alexis in photo on right) are grateful for your support, Rob
